I found this one while trying to figure out which wheels to buy: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

There's also great tyre size calculator: Tire Size Calculator Comparsion Online - 1010TIRES.COM®
I know this is an old post but do you know of a site that does the same for suspensions vs tire sizes? That would make things go a lot quicker. Plug in you rim specs & tire size to see if it'll clear the spring perches ot control arms. I guess that's why this thread is so long.

Non XTs can run 15s no problem.
15's cannot be achieved with OEM wheels on a stock setup.
Just as @WilderMike said "Good to know about the Non XTs." I do not want others to take your message literally as you cannot fit OEM 15" wheels to a stock Forester since the SG. You would need new wheels. What needs to be avoided for example if another member sees your statement then orders 15" wheels with an OEM 48 offset plus new 15" tires and is then stuck with the lot because they will not fit ;)

@K675 I repeat for the third time - Foresters since the SG cannot fit 15" OEM wheels. The member you referenced is considering changing to a 15mm offset wheel i.e not OEM. So your statement is still misleading as it does not mention that mods are required.

To avoid any confusion your post should've used a @mention for member dennis80220 and your statement "2014-2018 Non XTs (2.5 only) can run 15s no problem" would be more concise if it contained "after changing the OEM wheels" and/or in response to dennis80220 "on those wheels" for example.

I have added the referenced post to your reply and I think you should add some clarity to your "no problem" comment. ;)

Lots of Foresters can run 15" on non-OEM wheels, in fact mine does, but not without some changes to wheels, suspension or even brakes.

Sorry for nit-picking but I do not want someone to take your statement literally and waste a lot of money.

Not Sure if this has been covered yet or not, but I am a new (to me) Forester owner. I just purchased 17/8 40mm offset Black Rhino Boxer wheels with BFG A/T 225/65/R17 tires. I have seen conflicting posts about rubbing. Some do, some dont. I am worried about the rubbing, and hoping someone can help that may know or have the same set up. it is a dead stock 2017 2.5 base model.

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for being patient with a new owner! Looking forward to being a member of this community.
