Correcting myself. they mount tabs snap off easy when uninstalling them

 

Not if you unsistall them correctly

Open the door, slide towards the rear the black triangle slightly... then pull slowly.
There are small tabs that locks the cover to the door. by twisting and pulling you are releasing these tabs from the door.

I am preparing a How to replace speakers for MY2011 using those pesky scoshe adapters without any mayor modifications.

Its very easy, just work slowly and with patience.
I can replace my speakers now in 1 hour more or less....

the hardest park is the door handle!!!

I have a question about the kit. Do you think the stock speaker can be removed from the kit case? I want to go all Alpine in my forester, looking to keep a clean oem look though. Just wondering if I can mount a different tweeter in the case?

 

They can be with a little work. on the older models the speakers were merely hot glued in the socket.

 

Can you think of any better options beside me purchasing the Oem kit just to remove the speaker? An aftermarket kit without a speaker would be awesome.

Optional Tweeter:
Located in the sail panel (top of door, near side mirrors)
They are 3/4", but with a little yankee ingenuity you can mount almost any 3/4" or 1" aftermarket tweeter in the housing.

 

I replaced the factory radio in my 2011 2.5X with a Clairon CX501. If I buy the tweeter kit do I have to pull the radio to hook up the tweeters to the new radio?

Nope. the wiring is already in the door. It just splits off from the door speakers.

They are plug and play.

 

Well...if they just plug in and play....I'll order mine today!!!

I did the tweeter kit last week. Radio still sounds like absolute garbage but a noticeable improvement in CD/Ipod sound quality. Well worth it.

 

Let me get this straight, I have the 11 Limited, this kit is to add tweeter's to car or replace what is there ?

 

To add tweeters if you do not already have them.

Some premium models come with them already installed. Its the same kit the factory uses for those models.

 

I'll have to check, i have the grilles there now. Owner's Manual says 6 speakers. I figured two in the back seat, 2 in the lower door area and WAS guessing I had two in the window area on the top of the door panels. ( I guess you call these tweeters). I see nothing in the top of the dash like my other car has.

 

If you have grills near the corner of the windows, you should have tweeters. The stock blanks are solid. The tweeters come glued into the sail panels. I modified mine to fit 1" diamond audio tweeters.

 

far better off buying a $100 set of splits. Better sound and build quality. All the xt owners i know bin the premium tweeters.

 

if you are not an audio nut and just want a nice, cheap, easy audio upgrade...you can't beat $70 for tweeters with a mounting solution.

If I didn't already have a $400 set of components, I surely would've kept the tweeters and just upgraded the woofers from parts-express.

 

Not thrilled with the sound system

I went from an '03 to a 2011. Both cars had the additional subwoofer/amp kit and tweeter kit but the sound seemed to be so much more powerful in my '03. Is there just some setting I need to tweak or is this a common issue? I'm really disappointed with the new system.:icon_frown:
